How to do Collab Posts You've Been Seeing on Instagram Lately

instagram collab

By now, you've probably seen Instagram posts by two people, ladies, and gentlemen, thanks to a nifty feature that lets you collaborate with another user on a single post.

What this means is that the collaboration post will appear on your Instagram as well as on the account of the person you collaborated with. This feature is especially useful for influencers, those who create branded content, and more.

So how exactly do you create a collaboration post?

How to make a Collab post on Instagram

According to an article by Hootsuite, a Collab (collaboration) post is “a single post that appears in the feed or files of different users.” Both users will be notified once their posts get likes and comments. As mentioned, this feature only applies to feed posts and Instagram Rails, not Stories.

Creating a Collab post is very simple and much simpler than you think. To get things started, all you have to do is create rails or a feed post like you normally would. Before posting, find the option to tag people and simply click.

You'll see an option to invite a collaborator below the photo or video you're about to post to Instagram. All you have to do is search for and select your collaborator for your post.

As of the time of publication, the app only allows one collaborator per post. Don't forget to also click Done so that the changes made to your post are saved.

The next step is to just publish the post. Once this is done, your collaborator will be notified that they have been invited to participate in a post. This person must accept the invitation first, or the post will remain hidden.

Other things you should know about Collab Publications (collaboration)

So can anyone, whether public or private account, create a Collab (collaboration) post?

We tested this feature ourselves, and as of writing this article, the person creating the post must have a public Instagram account. If the person creating the Collab post (collaboration) is a private account, the option to invite a collaborator will appear.

However, please note that this does not mean that private accounts cannot participate in Collab posts. They just can't be the ones making it and spreading it. They can be invited as a collaborator.

How do you know that you have been invited as a collaborator for a post? As mentioned, the invited person will be notified by the application. The notification will appear in the list of notifications, according to Tech Advisor.
