WWDC 2022: Summary of the Apple Developers Conference

Apple announced today, during the keynote speech at its annual WWDC 2022 conference, about the upcoming new updates for its various devices. iPadOS 16, In addition to announcing the new version of the Mac OS and operating system for Apple smartwatches, Apple also announced a new MacBook Air.

Use your iPhone as a webcam for Mac

One of the most prominent features announced by Apple during the WWDC 2022 keynote is the ability to use iPhone phones such as iPhone 13 as a webcam when making video calls through meeting applications including FaceTime and Microsoft Teams, a feature that is available in the new version. From macOS 13 to iPhone phones running iOS 16, which works without any settings from the user, as the Mac device recognizes the connected iPhone and uses it directly as a webcam in video calls while taking advantage of the advanced camera features in the iPhone to provide the best possible experience.

 

iOS 16 announced with improvements and new features for iPhone

The keynote speech at this year's Apple Developers Conference WWDC 2022 also witnessed the announcement of the new version of the operating system for iPhone iOS 16 phones, which offers many improvements and new features, most notably:

• Comprehensive improvements to the lock screen Screen Lock: so that you can customize the screen, change the font and color of the date and time, with support for adding widgets so that you can preview weather, activity episodes, and calendar events, and others.
• Improved voice dictation features.
• Improved Live Text feature: Now the user can pause the video playback, extract texts from it and interact with it either by subtitles, transcribing, or searching.
• New features for parental controls and device sharing with family.
•  A new feature allows family members of up to 6 people to share photos in one album together.
• Pin and manage notifications on the lock screen: live sports scores.

• The new Pay Later feature: which allows Apple Pay users with the new iOS 16 update to divide the payments into 4 equal installments, to be paid later, without any interest or late penalties. 

3 important advantages of the messaging application

Apple said during the keynote speech at this year's WWDC22 that the Messages app in iOS 16 and in the new version of the Mac will provide three important new features, most notably:

• Correcting spelling errors in messages.
• Cancel sending.
• Mark messages as unread.

New interface for CARPLAY

Among the highlights of what Apple announced during WWDC22 is a completely new interface for the CARPLAY system for cars, which allows what looks like widgets instead of traditional meters, to display speed, fuel consumption, and others.

Features of watchOS9 for Apple smartwatches

And about the new features coming to Apple smartwatch users such as the Apple Watch Series 7 and others with the new watchOS9 update, which includes three new tracking measures for running, in addition to improvements in tracking atrial fibrillation, as well as medication appointment reminders and four new watch faces.

The Apple Health app for all iPhone users

Instead of providing the Apple Health tracking application to iPhone users who own Apple Watch smartwatches only, Apple said that the application will be available to all iPhone users, with support for the feature of getting alerts for taking medications.

The new processor Apple M2

• 18% better in performance compared to the M1.

And the MacBook Pro with a 13-inch screen got the upgrade to the new M2 processor, with RAM up to 24 GB, storage capacity up to 2 TB, and a battery up to 20 hours, at a starting price of $ 1299.

iPad gets new features with iPadOS 16

The new iPadOS 16 provides iPad users such as iPad 9 and others with the Weather app (the best weather apps), as well as tools for multitasking and collaborating with others, including the Freeform app, which provides a whiteboard for recording notes and sharing ideas.

Phones That Won't Get iOS 16

Apple confirmed that the iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, and the first generation of iPhone SE will not get the iOS16 update.
